movies – 5 worst in recent times!

I started off this post wanting to write about movies that touched me. Movies that struck a chord with me, and stayed with me months, even years after I’ve seen it. Some may like action, some may like drama, and there are almost a million ways in which a movie can stick with you.

So I started running through in my mind the list of movies I’ve seen, liked, and important enough to me to have left an impression.

In the midst of doing this, I must have cycled through countless junk movies, cos in the end, I decided writing about absolute crap movies was much easier.

So, there you go. The title of this post has been changed to “Movies – 5 worst in recent times”

5) The Blair Witch Project

Blair Witch Project

Despite enduring an almost non-existent dialogue, crappy camerawork, amatuer acting and almost an entire movie of running around, we don’t get the pay-off of a good glimpse of the blair witch. In fact, we’re left wondering if there even was a blair witch!

huh?!

4) Lady in the Water

Lady in the Water

M Night Shyamalan, best known for his spooky film “The Sixth Sense”, never really lived up to filmgoers expectations after that film. Known as the director with a twist, Lady in the Water was an extension of a self-thought bedtime story he used to tell his kids.

Do you really think a story he probably made up as he went along while trying to get his kids to bed will end up watchable?

No, I didn’t think so too.

The movie was made for 70million, plus another 70 in advertising, but took in only 72million in box office takings internationally.

one word. BIG FUCKING BOMB. (okay. three words.)

Trivia: His upcoming movie, The Happening, had its poster defaced to read The Crappening.

 The Crapening

3) 10,000BC

10,000BC

Review here.

2) Epic Movie/Date Movie

Epic Movie

Senseless. Plotless. Epicless. Humourless.

1) Stardust

Stardust

Boy meets girl. Boy likes girl. Boy promises a falling star to girl. Huh??#1

Fallen star turns out to be girl (claire danes) Huh???!#2 (let’s not even think about how he managed to track down the fallen star)

Meanwhile, 3 witches are also hunting for the fallen star, cos apparently, eating the star’s heart will grant the person immortality. Huh??!!!???#3.

Need I go on?

So, what are some of the worst movies you’ve seen?

  2. I don’t care how wonderful the cinematography was and how many Oscars it swept. The English Patient was by far the most boring movie ever made.

Blair Witch was pretty horrible too.

  3. Thank Goodness i have only watched 2 of the 5 worst movies you’ve listed…. (Stardust & 10,000BC)

Some of the BAD movies that i watched which i can recently recall:
City of Angels (that’s 2 hours of my life that i’ll never get back)
Happy Feet (it’s neither cute nor funny)
The Forbidden Kingdom (periodic Chinese individuals who are actually billingual)
The Empress & her Warriors (title is misleading, and pls don’t get Hongkies who can’t enunciate Mandarin properly to use their natural speaking voices. We can REALLY live with dubbing)

Will add on the list when i recall the rest…
