Humans, over the last century, have been constantly abusing the Earth by using up Her natural resources and polluting Her with Chemical/Biological/Industrial waste. And because Earth is only 1 of a few planets suitable for Intelligent lifeforms, the other species around the Universe have come to a conclusion.

We are pests that need to be cleared, in order for Earth to survive.

In comes Klaatu, in the delectably alien form of Keanu Reeves, in a role that was probably tailor-made for him, seeing that he has only 2 primary expressions; mildly confused and extremely confused.

Mildly confused                             Extremely confused

His job, is to give one last analysis of the human race, and decide if they are worth saving. Lucky for us, Klaatu, in its alien form, is also probably male. And even more lucky for us, he meets Jennifer Connelly, a hot professor scientist (which out of movie reality, is really non-existent).

He also has this cute (and extremely useful) pet we call GORT (Genetically Organized Robotic Technology) who has destructive laser beam for eyes.

And so, ostensibly, because he could see that humans can change, he decides to save them(although i think he just really wants to get under the pants of the hot prof) at the last minute, when the destruction had already begun (so that we can witness some cool special effects).

And so, we’re faced with the biggest environmentally friendly message and advertising blitz.
- Save the Earth.
- Consume only what you need.
- Recycle.
- You can do your part! (especially if you’re hot)

I went into this movie not expecting a lot, with only average reviews strewn all over the net, but was pleasantly surprised and found myself liking the movie.

So I give this a 3.5 out of 5.
