Knowing

Knowing sort of works for the first 2/3 of the movie… but then, before the end, you would have known the ending to the film.. and its an exceptionally bad one.

And even knowing the ending, the actual ending scene will make you puke blood even more.

Oh well, let’s start with the not so bad parts. Beginning the film in 1959, children at the William Dawes Elementary School were asked to draw what they envisioned the world will be in 50 year’s time.

Not surprisingly, most of them drew things like robots, flying cars and a Black President. This one girl, Lucinda, proceeded to scribble a page full of random numbers, and was furiously writing away, even when the teacher snatched the piece of paper away. (this is so we know she hasn’t finished with it yet! Suspense!)

These were then slipped into a Time Capsule, for the new batch of kids 50 years later to open it and see if any of the predictions were right! (well done kid who drew black president! What were the odds!)

So anyway, 50 years later, that piece of randomly scribbled numbers ends up with Nicholas Cage’s son, who brings it home with him. Cage, who was very free at night cos his wife died in an accident a year back, then proceeds to analyse the numbers, and finds out that it details the exact date and number of deaths of every major disaster in the last 50 years!

Another 3 disasters were pending, and they were a plane crash, a train wreck, and *gasp* the end of the world!

At the same time, there are these creepy pale strangers with cool trenchcoats that start appearing to Cage’s kid. What part do they play in all of this? Are they part of a clandestine group of super secret terrorists who were behind all the disasters?

Or are they something more… sinister?

I shall not spoil the ending… for it can not be spoiled any further.

Having said that, knowing does have some nice scenes, like the plane crash scene which was done quite well.

Oh.. this movie reminds me of the latest Indiana Jones movie… disappointing ending, in more ways than one.
