There’s always been a sort of unwritten, unspoken thing about going to the movies.

You watch sappy, rom-coms with the girl-of-your-dreams / gf / wife, and then go for your horror fix with your dude pack.

Finally now, there’s a movie to take ur best friend of the same sex to – I love you, man

An unabashed Bromance flick, and quite possibly the first of its kind to admit it. (I think Lord of the Rings was a bromance in disguise, remember sam carrying frodo on his back, mmm?)

I love you, man, tells the story of a friendless soon to be groom (delectable Paul Rudd), who desperately embarks on a series of man-dates in order to find a best friend who can be his best man. After a series of failed dates, in steps Sydney Fife (Jason Segel) at a chance meeting while at Lou-The Hulk-Ferrignou’s open house, which Peter (paul rudd) is trying to sell.

They hit it off and soon become fast friends. There, potential best man spotted.

But of course, things don’t always go as planned, and the usual “break up make up” routine is milked.

Now, I really like Paul Rudd. I do. But somehow, I find his ability to carry an entire movie on his back as lead tends to fall a little flat toward the end. Not that the movie isn’t funny. Its definitely LOL at some of the gags, but at the end of it all, I don’t seem to take out of it as being a must-watch.

Incidentally, I think the best part of the movie was the fiancee… damn she’s hot!

oh yeah, suck that lolly, babeeee!

oh yeah, suck that lolly, babeeee!

ok ok…. i know, for all you girls, and some guys, here’s a paul rudd for ya:

Enough about the movie, i wonder how many people actually relate with Paul Rudd’s character. As you grow older, its not a school-like environment where you easily make friends. In fact, at his (and my) age, most friends are more often than not colleagues from work.

Sure, there will be a few you will be close to… but in between juggling work, wife, family commitments and friends… i wonder which ball is more likely to be dropped.

Fuck, i think i need more friends.

Anybody, man-date?
