LOST is back. Finally, after such a long wait, we're treated to an hour of recap, followed by a 2 hour premiere of the final season of LOST. And it is so awesome I wouldn't know where to begin talking about it. And as always with LOST, we're back with a double dose of that oh so familiar feeling of "err.. what?" followed instantly with "WTF!?" The premiere brings back fond memories of the pilot with a strong sense of dejavu, yet also spinning away from the narrative direction of the past 5 seasons in an awesome reset/multiverse/alt arc. As usual, we leave the episodes with more questions than answers (and they say they're already in answer-mode) and I really hope they can answer the most important ones when the end is here! They say a picture paints a thousand words, so, here's my collection of wtf moments kodak-ed for your dissection! Warning: Extreme spoilerific pictures ahead... so unless you've seen the premiere, DO NOT BOARD.
WTF #1 All's going well with the "reboot/reset" when suddenly, we see Desmond Hume on the plane. What?! Yeap, the time flashing dude, the one who doesn't apply to the rules is on the oceanic!
Other differences in this timeline: Cindy the stewardess gives Jack 1 bottle of vodka instead of 2 in the original timeline; Hurley being the "luckiest man alive" instead of being cursed by the numbers.
WTF #2 We then pan out of the plane, in an awesome camera sequence, out into the clouds, diving into the ocean.. and GASP! find DharmaVille and the entire island submerged under water! Finally to a lingering shot of lovely ol' Four Toes.
WTF #3 Back under four toes in the current timeline, Bram charges in to confront Flocke. And when Flocke tells him that Jacob's dead, Bram goes into a shooting frenzy. But we all know that it doesn't do any harm against...
Yup! Smokey is back! and Bigger WTF is, SMOKEY = FLOCKE! But does that mean smokey = flocke = man in black???
WTF #4 Meanwhile, Hurley and gang brings Sayid to the temple to seek help, and we finally get to see it, other than the holey back entrance seen by Jin.
WTF #5 But before Sayid can be saved, the templars need to know who sent them here. And when asked for proof that it really was Jacob who sent Hurley their way, Hurley told them that the Guitar case was given to him by Jacob. And for those dying to know what was in that case, nope, it wasn't Charlie's guitar (which by the way creates another mystery... where is Charlie's guitar??)
Its... and Ankh! Now we're saved...
Other golden moments..
in the blink and you'll miss underwater sequence - The Dharma Shark!
on the alternate timeline 815 - John and Boone chatting, but right in the middle sleeps Froghurt! Wearing the redshirt he died in!
And lastly, the look on all our faces as the episode ended. Utter fear, confusion and awe rolled into one.
Interesting to note, this was Ben's expression pretty much throughout the episode. Looks like his time as a know-all leader is well and truly gone.
