ATM scams are easy to pull off

With the recent DBS/POSB atm hacker incident where close to 400 accounts and $500,000 were compromised, light has been shed on how fragile our ATM system really is.
DBS had all their ATMs fitted with anti-skimming devices 6 years ago, which is like 20 years in technology terms. I would think all banks are now scrambling to ensure their ATMS are at least free of suspicious looking devices.
Just how easy it is to steal your card account details? This video shows you. At the end of the day, the onus is still on us to make it as difficult as possible for scammers to detect our details, and sometimes, the best advise is also the simplest: Cover the keypad when keying in your PIN.
