Human Centipede 3 becomes more of a joke

Oct

The Human Centipede

mmph mmph!

Some of you may find it appalling, but I really liked The Human Centipede. No doubt it was sick and twisted, but it lingered in the realm of something that real sick people may commit, hence the 100% medically accurate tagline.

It was deranged, and ended in a way that really made you think “OMFG what’s she (#2) gonna do?!” She was really stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Then The Human Centipede 2 took it more than a few steps further, aiming for a 12-person-pede. It aimed to be a little meta, showing the events happening in The Human Centipede to be a movie, with an allegory that real life is often more brutal, sick and unrelenting than fiction.

But it simply devolved into a let’s-cram-as-much-gore-and-violence-as-we-can film. It got so bad the film had to be in black and white to lessen the bloody factor.

Which is why I got really pissed off that Director Tom Six is planning a 500-person-pede for his finale.

Its just ridiculous now.

Bane, after Batman.

Bane

All i wanted was to be someone's reckoning..

Apparently, Bane survived the blast from Selina Kyle, and was incarcerated. 7 years later, he was released for good behaviour. And is now trying to be a good Gothamite.

What’s better than 2 breasts? 3

Jul

One of the most memorable scenes in the original Total Recall was seeing a guy grope a mutant prostitute who had 3 breasts.

You’ll be happy to know that the Colin Farrell update will also feature the 3-boobed prostitute, only this time, she’s asian.

Looks like all the technological advances and improved film-making techniques over the last 22 years have all been for 1 purpose: More realistic looking 3-boobed girl.

Well, if 2 heads are better than 1, it only makes sense that 3 boobs are better than 2?

Enjoy.

Rotten Tomatoes disables comments on TDKR reviews

Why do I need to take Gotham again? Couldn't I have just gone to a City without a Superhero, to invade... like Singapore?

Christopher Nolan’s last 4 films have collectively grossed more than 2 billion dollars worldwide. He has successfully revived Batman and turned him darker and grittier, culminating in his completed arc of Bruce Wayne / Batman with The Dark Knight Rises. It also means that no matter the quality of the film, it will be another blockbuster in terms of revenue for Warner Bros.

Thus far, his films have been hailed as anything from brilliant to masterpieces. And his legion of fans of grown exponentially as well. In the minds of his fans, Nolan can do no wrong.

So when some two-bit film critic comes out of The Dark Knight Rises and gives it a negative review, out comes the knives and stones.

This has happened at Rotten Tomatoes (RT) for The Dark Knight Rises. The comments came fast and furious, and had apparently crashed the reviewer Marshall Fine’s site. RT has temporarily disabled comments for reviews on TDKR, but you can always go to Fine’s site to throw more stones.

The episode has even prompted RT’s editor Matt Atchity to write about it, telling people to basically get a life and not be a dick about a couple of reviews.

He says:

“But if I could ask everyone for one thing, it’s this: don’t be a dick. Even if you think someone else is being a dick. Just take a deep breath, step away from the computer, and maybe go for a walk. Have a smoke if you need one. There are plenty of other things to get angry about, like war, famine, poverty and crime. But not movie reviews.”

As for me, I know its totally not professional to say this (so its lucky i’m NOT a professional film critic), but I already know TDKR is gonna be fawesome (f for fucking awesome) even if i’m only seeing the film this coming Saturday (on imax!).

[Trailerwatch] Re5ident Evil: Retribution

all the zombies died of excessive blood loss

Yeah, the zombie hunt continues, and Milla Jovovich continues to wear impossibly tight clothes and kill scores of zombies while looking totally hot. Which of course, i’m not complaining.

I enjoyed the first and fourth film in the series, coincidentally both of which were directed by  Paul W.S Anderson, so i’m pretty hopeful of the fifth film. And if this cute advertrailer and the synopsis is indicative of things to come, it seems we’ll actually have a decent plot written into this film, 5 movies later.

Given that the trailer shows people who’ve died in the first film, it would seem to suggest we’ll be seeing either some time travel elements or maybe an alternate timeline thing. Either way, can’t wait to see it.

Are you a resident evil fan?

Enjoy the trailer.

Trailer watch: Chronicle

Chronicle is what happens when a bunch of people come together with the thought of:

“wouldn’t it be great if Heroes was re-hashed in the found footage genre?”

And if the trailer is indicative of the entire movie, it could really work! So far, the found footage genre has always been a subset of the horror genres, where films such as Paranormal Activity, Blair Witch, Rec and Cloverfield comes to mind.

But if this film takes off, we could really start to see fresh new takes on the found footage genre. For one, the parody genre, Scary Movie style.

Check out the trailer below:

Chronicle opens 2nd Feb 2012 in Singapore.

In marketing this film and being true to the budget conscious found footage type films (It cost 15 million to make. Compare this with Hangover II, a no effects comedy costing 80 million), they took to tumblr and commissioned several artists to create their own renditions of what a Chronicle poster might look.

You can take a look at the submissions at http://whatareyoucapableof.tumblr.com/. Really cool stuff.

Top 11 films of 2011

Dec

Wow, time flies huh? Its THAT time of the year again. Yeap, time to look back upon the year of film in 2011, and pick the ones I enjoyed the most.

In no particular order, here are the 11 films I enjoyed throughout the year:

11. The greatest movie ever sold

If any of you don’t believe in the power of advertising, or the effectiveness of product placement, all you need to do is watch this documentary.

Made entirely on a budget from product placement deals, its an interesting peek into the at times shady world of advertising.

No wonder Bane gets to break Batman’s back… Batman was using a Nokia Lumia windows phone. And nothing good ever happens to people still using Nokia and/or windows phones.

Picture: slashgear

Still, the packaging is damn neat. And Nokia’s being a total cocktease by making this a truly limited edition phone. Apparently only 40 pieces of “Dark Knight Rises” Lumia 800 will be made worldwide.

Damn, I wanna get my hands on one of those!

I wonder if it has a “batvoice” synthesizer? You know, so we can sound like a bat-ass!
